Meet the Doctors

Biltmore Eye Physicians, P.C. was established in September, 1990 by sister and brother, Dr. Ann Bullington and Dr. Robert H. Bullington, Jr., to provide ophthalmic care to patients in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and its neighboring communities.  Dr. Aileen Villareal joined the practice in July, 1995. All three doctors received their undergraduate and medical degrees in Arizona, but completed their ophthalmology training at various respected institutions outside Arizona.  All of our doctors are board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

 

Ann Bullington, M.D.

Ann Bullington, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.  She received her medical degree from the University of Arizona, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  Following her internship, Dr. Bullington completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Oregon in Portland. Her practice focus is general ophthalmology.

 

Robert H. Bullington, Jr., M.D.

Robert H. Bullington, Jr., M.D. received his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.  He received his medical degree from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  Following his internship, Dr. Bullington completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Oklahoma. He then completed fellowship training in cornea and extermal disease at the University of Texas at Houston.  Dr. Bullington's practice focus is general ophthalmology with an emphasis on the treatment of corneal disease.

 

Aileen F. Villareal, M.D.

Aileen F. Villareal, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree with highest distinction from the University of Arizona, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She then received her medical degree from the University of Arizona.  Following her internship, Dr. Villareal completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio.  Dr. Villareal's practice focus is general ophthalmology.

 

Robert Fintelmann, MD

Robert Fintelmann, MD grew up in Southern Germany. After completing his doctorate at the University of Ulm in Germany, he traveled to the United States for his Ophthalmology residency, which he accomplished at the prestigious Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then pursued a Corneal and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) before moving to Phoenix. Dr. Fintelmann currently serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
He provides excellence in ophthalmic patient care as he has had extensive clinical and surgical experience with corneal disease, cataracts, and vision correction. He has performed thousands of cataract surgeries, over two thousand vision correction procedures (including LASIK, PRK, and ICL), and hundreds of corneal transplants. Dr. Fintelmann's experience includes a range of procedures: laser assisted cataract surgery, full corneal transplants, partial thickness corneal transplants (DSAEK, DMEK, DALK). He is particularly interested in minimally invasive transplants of either the anterior or posterior portions of the cornea and has taught Descemet Membrane transplants to other ophthalmologists. In clinic, he enjoys treating ocular surface disease (dry eye), helping patients achieve relief from their chronic eye irritation. He speaks fluent German, English, Spanish, and French.
